Paddle or Die! Balaton Marathon

Crossing Lake Balaton lengthwise again! As in previous years, this year we are organizing the Paddle or Die - Balaton Marathon. Those who want to join the challenge should prepare for the following: The distance is 84 km long on flat water. You can start on two distances: half distance, 47 km and the full distance 84 km, but those who want to quit earlier can do so, and you can also participate as a team with smaller partial distances. We expect a travel time of 12-13 hours for the full distance including breaks, which means maintaining a speed of 6-7 km/h. Please only experienced water tourists apply! Departure, weather permitting, will be from the free beach of Balatonakarattya (Gumirádli Beach) on Saturday, 2026.09.05, at 5:00 AM (rain day: Sunday). Arrival by dusk and award ceremony at Helikon Beach in Keszthely. Since the weather on Lake Balaton is very changeable and we cannot start during storm warnings, all participants should consider that in case of stormy weather lasting the whole weekend, we may postpone by one week, so please also consider the following weekend (Saturday or Sunday) according to the announcement. We reserve the right to change until the start in all cases! We will include four rest and refreshment points with 10-minute breaks, where participants will be offered water and some energy snacks. In addition, four other exit points will be designated. Transfer and towing options are provided, please indicate your needs in advance. Transfer will take place in the evening after the tour. Participation fee: 12,000 HUF. Registration is required for the tour!
