Winery in a 200-year-old monument Open Gate Day and tour: from must to wine Would you like to take a little time travel while tasting excellent wines and local delicacies in the courtyard of a historic farmhouse? In the heart of Szentbékkálla stands the Istvándi House, built in 1825. Since its builder, it has been passed down from father to son, making it the home of our family for six generations and now the center of our winery. It is a nationally protected monument, with rich gable decorations, one of the special sights of Hungarian folk architecture. For us, wine is not just a product but a family tradition passed down through generations. With every bottle, we seek to create a wine that respects the grape's own character, often imagined years earlier inspired by an experience or thought. On this day, we will show you how grapes become wine: starting from the house's famous street facade, we will tour the courtyard, the winery spaces, and the cellar, tasting the transformation of the grape through must, murci, and finished wine. The program is complemented by wine tasting, local delicacies, children's programs, individual Stone Sea hikes, and church walks. Free programs From must to wine! 3-item wine tasting with cellar tour All day, between 10:00 and 18:00, every two hours. During the tour, you can learn about the history of the Istvándi House, the winery spaces, and taste how grapes turn into wine with the help of must, murci, and a finished wine. Children's corner all day A drawing and play corner awaits children, and they can also taste fresh must. Cyclists' rest stop Szentbékkálla is on the Horizont International Cycling Route, so we offer an ideal rest and refreshment point for cycling tourists. Individual Stone Sea tour Starting from us, we provide a map to the Stone Sea. We not only show the route but also our favorite, somewhat secret spots within the Stone Sea. Church walks We invite you to half-hour church walks twice at 14:00 and 16:00. The church of Szentbékkálla hides special frescoes: painter Ernő Jeges modeled the faces of the holy scenes' characters on former locals. He created these frescoes during the communist years while living in the village, featuring Szentbékkálla landscapes, buildings, and faces. Paid programs Romantic Stone Sea wine tour with canvas bag An easy individual tour to one of the most famous natural treasures of the Káli Basin, the Stone Sea. Along with the map, we pack wine, two glasses, and toasted almonds from Szentbékkálla so you can enjoy wine at one of the most beautiful spots of the Káli Basin, somewhat hidden from the world. Picnic basket with local products You can set off with a pre-assembled picnic basket. The basket contains local products, and we recommend atmospheric picnic spots for resting. Thematic wine tasting sets on the wine terrace We have assembled four thematic tasting sets from our own wines and those of our friends: with 3, 4, 5, or 6 wines. Whenever you arrive, just choose which set you want to taste, and before each item, we tell a little about the wine, then let you discover what is in the glass.
